The Role

We are looking for a pro-active, dynamic, innovative and motivated arboriculturist to join our Streetscene Parks and Green Space team to help us deliver our aims and objectives across Liverpool to benefit both the environment and the communities we serve.

The role comes with plenty of variety for a hardworking individual who is passionate about problem solving in an innovative way to educate and improve decision making around trees. The role includes but is not limited to: ad-hoc inspections; building strong working relationships with tree contractors; interaction with members of the public and Council staff; opportunities to build your own tree planting projects and an expectation to handle your own time to enable delivery of work.

The successful candidate will support and implement tree management of Liverpool City Councils tree stock including both street trees and those in parks and green spaces. You will work in partnership with colleagues in the Parks and Green Spaces team and the wider Streetscene Service to ensure a holistic and consistent approach to tree management across the City. Where we deliver tree management in accordance with current standard methodology, legislation and the Council’s tree practice.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced arboricultural professional to join a busy Tree Section working with the most up to date arboriculture equipment’s and IT resources.  You will assist the Tree manager in the management of Council owned trees whilst delivering the Service Level Agreements for the maintenance of the Council’s tree stock.  You will be responsible for appropriate risk management and giving specialist advice across the Council and to external stakeholders.

You must be willing to undertake a wide range of duties that are not directly related to the technical area of arboriculture, for example: financial management, general administration, database interrogation and information retrieval, manipulation of large amounts of data within Excel, recharging Client departments, contract management and producing financial reports for client departments.

The successful post holder will have strong experience of working in town based areas, ideally in carrying out tree inspections, surveys, diagnosis of faults/diseases and specifying remedial works.

You’ll have good working knowledge of tree legislation, decay detection equipment and communication skills, and will be able to engage and understand the perspectives of a range of stakeholders (both within the Council and Camden’s wider communities) that feed into the delivery of liveable places. You’ll have the ability to physically carry out work in relation to the emergency call out system and respond in a calm and systematic way to urgent or emergency situations.
